Chinese Student Visa (X2) Extension in Hong Kong
for students who want to study more than 6 months
Since it is not permitted for students to extend their X2 visa while in mainland China, applicants must apply from outside the country. Hong Kong is the most convenient and efficient option for students, as it is geographically close and offers a faster processing time than other locations.
Step 1: Prepare Your Documents (2 Copies Where Applicable)
Ensure you have the following documents ready before visiting the visa office:
- Admission Letter (if applicable)
- A photocopy of your passport bio page
- A recent passport-sized photograph
- A completed visa application form
- A photocopy of the Hong Kong arrival stamp or sticker from immigration
- Your round-trip tickets to/from mainland China
- Photocopies of your hotel bookings for your stay in Hong Kong
- (Include a Police Accommodation Registration Form (境外人员住宿登记表) if you stayed in China)
You can obtain a visa application form at the visa office or download it from the Chinese embassy’s official website. Note that online applications must be completed on a computer and then printed.
Tip: If you don’t have a passport photo, a photo booth is available at the visa application office for a fee.
